Do you know what is one of the MAJOR events that is going to happen in Singapore 2010??

If you are still thinking, I shall tell you the answer now.
It is the Youth Olympic Games !!

This is the first Youth Olympic and Singapore,

a small little dot to what others may seem,

is hosting this very grand event!!

Sorry for athletics that are over 18 years old or under 14 because the YOG only caters to athletics who are 14-18 years old. (Cheers to those who can qualify!!)

There are a total of 26 sports and 200 events. The common and must have sports most of you would already know. Therefore I would just want to highlight the innovative sports that YOG would be featuring and they are beach wrestling and BMX biking! (Excited now? :) )

YOG is not just an event on sports but also culture and education. Therefore Culture and Education Programme is formed to educate, engage and influence athletes to be true Olympians, to adopt and live by the Olympic Values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect and play active roles in their communities. ( In short, YOG is not only any Olympic event but it is one that allows LEARNING and INTERACTION)

By having , athletes can participate in activities that are integrated with their sports competition schedules. Therefore they will be able to develop as true sportsmen and ambassadors in the society and at the same time make friends and have lots of fun!

Some may wonder so where are the athletes sleeping and having their rest?

The answer is :

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) campus!!

The campus not only can host 5,000 athletes and team officials expected to

participate in the Games, but also have fantastic training facilities for many sports and excellent facilities for the culture and education programme. (Come down to Singapore and see how superb it is! Hurry! )

Are you wondering why choose Singapore to be the first to host ?..

The answer is:

· Because our modern island is a global success story, an international destination with a truly cosmopolitan mix of ages, races and cultures.

· Secondly, as a young nation, Singapore understands the importance of young people, and we’re investing heavily in their future.

· Moreover Singapore shares and champion similar values with the Olympic Movement which are excellence, friendship and respect.

· Singapore sports facilities are world-class and we continue to invest heavily in our venues, capabilities and transport infrastructure.

· Lastly we would feature innovative and exciting elements to support and strengthen the Olympic Movement and ensure that the legacy of the Games is felt long after they have ended.

Thus it has to be SINGAPORE who is given the golden opportunity to host the Youth Olympic Games.

So what are you waiting for after reading all the following? It’s time to fly to Singapore to be the one to experience Singapore!
